Why Kai the Homeless Hitchhiker Has Restored My Faith in Humanity

kai-the-hatchet-guyAs the celebrity of Kai, the ax-wielding hitchhiker grows, I find myself eating up every bit of it.

If you haven’t heard Kai’s story by now, he was hitchhiking in Fresno, Calif. when a truck driver he was riding with lost his mind and purposely drove into a utility worker and attacked a woman.

Kai sprang into action and hit the man in the back of the head with the hatchet he was carrying.

In our hero’s words:

“He comes down driving this way, and he’s like ‘you know what, I’ve come to realize I’m Jesus Christ and I can do whatever I [expletive] want to. Watch this’ – bam! And he smashed into this [expletive] guy right there and pinned him in between the truck. He runs up and grabs one of them. So I ran up behind him with a hatchet and was like smash, smash, Smaaa-ash!”

And now you can find Kai’s “Smash Smash SMASH!” video that has been dubbed with music and can even be purchased on ITunes.

I for one can’t get enough of this story, Kai is the unlikely hero that defies all logic.

It’s just another example of how there are good people in this world in all walks of life. While seeing news of countless school shootings, dirty politicians making back-door deals and the constant barrage of negativity that is thrown at us every day, it’s nice to see something positive for a change.

Kai just did what he thought was right in the moment, and may have saved lives in the process and for that I thank you Kai, wherever you are, for at least a couple days, you have restored my faith in humanity.
